Library story time is such a great excuse to get out of the house. As a mom of three littles, I understand feeling cooped up in the house all the day. However, we try to make library story time a weekly event for our family. There are so many library story times in the west valley, too. So, beat the heat and have a fun outing for free.
Before you check out this list of story times in the West Valley, I want to let you know you can attend any one of them! You don’t even need to own a library card (for the most part)! So if you choose to hop around and try new library story times, you can!

Library Story Times in the West Valley
Glendale Public Libraries
The Georgia T. Library in Goodyear has themed story times for young children. For example, in the month of July there is “Dinosaur storytime” where children should be ready to “snarl, stomp & dance.”
Check out their event calendar.
Peoria Public Libraries
Both the Peoria Main Library & Sunrise Library locations offer story times for toddlers and young children during the week. You can find their calendar times HERE. I might even need to try the “Strech it” story time at the Sunrise Library!
The Asante, Northwest Regional & Hollyhock libraries are all ran by the city of Surprise. Between the three of them, it would be difficult not to find a time that worked for your family. They have their events on their website, but they are also very good at keeping you updated on Instagram, too. Find their events page HERE.
Other Story Times in the West Valley
Did you know that you don’t always have to go to a library to allow your children to enjoy story time? That’s right! A lot of local businesses have weekly story times or special events to take your children to!

Immortal Trees Bookshop is a used & new bookshop located in Avondale, Arizona. Owned by two retired teachers, this bookshop offers story time for the west valley every Saturday from noon to 1 pm. Want to enjoy a nice cup of coffee while your children are read to? Spencer’s Place in Surprise, AZ is a special coffee shop that offers storytime every Thursday at 9:30am. They recommend to grab a seat around 9am so you don’t miss out! Spencer’s Place is also an amazing establishment. Besides being locally-owned, they provide job opportunities to those with special needs. Talk about putting your money (& time!) where it counts.
Their crossroads are Reems Rd & Waddell, in the Bashas Plaza.
